What is IMAP?

IMAP stands for internet message access protocol and allows you to access your emails from multiple devices. Your original emails are always stored in a central location (the mail server) and you use IMAP to access your email. With IMAP if the device used to access your email is destroyed you will not lose your email, unlike POP3.

What is POP3

Unlike IMAP, when you use POP3 to retrieve emails onto your device be it a laptop or phone. Your emails are deleted permanently from the mail server. POP3 is generally not recommended nowadays with users accessing emails from multiple devices.

Do you recommend POP3 or IMAP?

We highly recommend using IMAP to access there email, it allows multiple devices to access the same inbox and emails are always saved in the event of your device being destroyed or lost. POP3 is not recommended!
